appearance

Ymir is an adult male of average height, with a toned physique. He appears to have thin long jet black hair hanging down both sides of his face and nearly down to his butt. In actuality, it is a two foot long mohawk styled at a four inch width. His hair hides the runes that he had tattooed on the sides of his head, as well as the industrial in his left ear. There is also a little know septum piercing he has, because it is usually tucked back within his nostrils. Among the rest of facial features he has a chiseled jaw line adorned with a neatly trimmed goatee and mustache, green eyes, and a small nearly invisible scar above his right eye from his childhood.

Typically dressed for comfort, he is found to be dressed very casually, but always well put together and stylish. Wearing blue jeans, high end running shoes which are always separated from his body by miss-matched socks. He is usually wearing layers of shirts no matter what temperature it is, always starting with an 'a frame' undershirt against his skin. Even though he enjoys the look of collared shirts and sweater vests, he doesn't always wear them. Days when he doesn't suspect any excitement, he is usually adorned with a t-shirt and full zip hoodie or jacket combo.

personality

Ymir is very aloof and reserved in most social settings and interaction.  He can relate to others when needed, but tends to keep to himself, studying others and their actions, likely stemming from the fact he was an only child.  He is easily annoyed by seemingly silly antics and behaviors, and has an explosive temper when he's grown tired of various circumstances or apparent mindlessness. Having been on his own for so long, he can be quite OCD when it comes to others attempting to change his mind, or ways of doing things.

Intelligence is probably one of his most attractive qualities.  Just by observing for a short period of time, he is adaptive to changes in his environment. A calculative sort of person, always trying to fix problems or make things work better and quicker, knowing how precious time is.  Ymir is straightforward to a point for precisely that reason. Even with all of this in mind, he is still a kind and caring individual, knowing there are many hardships in life that people face on a daily basis.

history

Ymir had a very typical life until his teenage years.  Though his household didn't follow the typical model of the man being the bread winner, his life was similar to that of every other adolescent child.  His father owned the family dojo which his son frequented often and helped teach classes as needed; and his mother was a financial mogul, having bought and sold multiple companies by the time she was 30.  The pair had instilled strong values and strict discipline through his entire life, though they were always well off financially; supporting their son with any responsible decision. 

Doing chores and tending to the rooftop garden of his parents top floor condo from the time he was 8, he learned many important lessons about life, nature, and the balance between people and the environment around them.  His whole family; which really only consisted of himself, his parents, and his mother's mother; were environmentalists leaving as little of a carbon footprint as possible.

He was a fairly popular and athletic kid at school.  Though he was known to come from a well off family, fit in like every other high school student. Never once taking his financial stability for granted or rubbing it in people's faces, he costed through unabated by his peers.  He wasn't exactly friends nor enemies with anyone, filtering through the day to day routines with track, cross country, and archery being the only extra curricular activities he participated in.

Just before he was about to turn sixteen, he ended up being pulled out of classroom during fifth period.  He was told in the presence of his grandmother that both of his parents had been in a fatal accident and that he would have to stay with her until he was legally able to take over the residence on his own.  Little did he know how much his life was going to change.

His grandmother began to teach him about the craft and the magic that her family possessed.  She taught him many forms of divination, spell craft, and potion making. Until this point in his life, her practices were always kept secret from him. His mother had refused to believe and follow the practices, wanting more of a practical life for herself and her family.  As such she had forbidden her mother from hinting toward this aspect of her life around them.

He had gone to stay at the condo time to time, though continued to stay with his grandmother.  Knowing he could legally emancipate himself having turned sixteen, the will left by his parents didn't grant him full ownership of his parents' estate until he was eighteen. Around seventeen his grandmother was diagnosed with terminal cancer, which she passed from nearly two and a half years later.  She was the last member of his family, and the only to see him graduate high school before sending him off to college.

Over the next 6 years he completed his degrees in pharmaceutical engineering and botany. He also spent a small chunk of his inheritance to remodel the entirety of the condo apartment.  His parents bedroom became an indoor botanical garden with many rare and exotic plants from around the world.  His mother's office had its hallway door walled over and extended his own bedroom to include a master bath and walk in closet, with a hidden room beyond them to study his craft and alchemy.

Strengths

Ymir has quite a bit of endurance from all the running he does to maintain his physique.  He has a deathly shot with his bow as well from years of practice between hunting and schooling.  Through his continuous training and teaching of martial arts, he reacts quicker than most during combat as well.

Gifts/Power

Through years of practice and research Ymir is nearly a master potion crafter. The time it takes to make various potions depends on the scarcity of ingredients as well as the complexity of the formula.  Different potions range from a few hours to a few years depending on concentration and effect.

The inks used in Ymir's tattoos were created from highly distilled potions to enhance his senses.  Though he benefits from a minimal constant effect.  A direct blow to the runes, or self inflicted damage to them will cause the effects to greatly heighten as the properties of the ink will course through his blood.  The runes fade away as the effects are depleted from the damage and use.
